As for just when Canadian Windows Phone fans will be able to get the Samsung Ativ S from Bell, well word is the device will launch on the Canadian carrier as of the 14th of this month, so that would be this Friday by my reckoning.
The Ativ S according to the report will command a price tag of $79.99 when signing your life away for a period of three years, or if you prefer to forgo that lengthy commitment the Samsung Ativ S will set you back a hefty sum of $599.95 outright.
Just in case the delays have caused you to forget, the Samsung Ativ S offers a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED HD touch screen, a 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S4 dual core processor, a 8 megapixel rear facing auto-focus camera with LED flash, a 1.9 megapixel front facing snapper, 1GB RAM, 16GB or 32GB internal storage, microSD expansion up to 32GB, WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, DLNA, WiFi Hotspot, NFC, a 2300mAH battery and of course runs the Windows Phone 8 operating system.
So there you have it, Bell should offer the Samsung Ativ S as of this Friday, no word on whether other Canadian carriers will also offer the smartphone as yet though.

State agency targets text spammers who flooded cell phones with illegal messages
“Unsolicited commercialtexting is yet another form of spam,” Assistant Attorney General Paula Selis, who heads the agency’s High Tech Unit, said in a statement. “Spammers, known for invading computers, now recognize that most of us now carry powerful computers – mobile phones – and they are determined to invade those, as well. Ours is the first case filed by a state attorney general’s office against text message spammers.”
During two days in May, a Florida company pestered Washington state residents with tens of thousands of texts offering “quick cash” from payday loans. In response to the text spamming, the Washington State Attorney General’s office has filed a first-of-its-kind lawsuit.
The agency is accusing the Orlando-based Dinav Holding Inc. of violating federal and state laws. The company may face big penalties since the laws allow damages of $500 per violation. The consumer protection agency is also seeking additional civil penalties under state law.
That wasn’t the only problem, Selis said.
When Washington residents received Dinav’s texts, some probably clicked on the links promising easy money. When they did, they were required to fill out personal information and click a button labeled “Send Me Cash!” They landed on a Web page that proclaimed, “CONGRATULATIONS! You have been matched with the best loan providers in Washington.”
But she said the payday loan providers listed aren’t licensed to make payday loans in Washington state.
Under federal law, it’s illegal to make calls using an automated dialing system, such as the one used by Dinav Holding in the May incident, without first obtaining the permission of those being called, Selis said. Washington state law prohibits commercial text messages to mobile phones, which also is an automatic violation of the state’s Consumer Protection Act.
She said that many people have mobile phone plans that charge per text message. Others have plans that include a limited number of texts. Subscribers of such plans pay extra for going over the limit. Since there was no way for consumers to avoid Dinav’s texts, many consumers ended up incurring charges when they received the spam.
